"I/We love Colorado!"

We made it to Guangzhou yesterday and have been working on getting adjusted to the time zone. We arrived at 9:30 AM local time on Friday, 15 Aug (7:30 PM/14 Aug Colorado Time) and took a walking tour of the area around the White Swan Hotel. There's definitely growth happening around here right along side of the buildings that have been here for a long time. Here are some pics I'm hoping will make the jump...

These were taken in the airport in Taiwan and on our final leg to Guangzhou yesterday:

Here are a couple from the walking tour around Shiman Island where our hotel is located:

The reason for the title is the weather and condition of the air out here; hot, wet and hot. Did I mention that there's also a faint (and sometimes not so faint) hint of fish and poop in the air occasionally? Awesome. It's actually very cool to be here and see the other side of the world, although we wouldn't necessarily look to pack up and move out here.

Overall, we're very much enjoying our experience here, but are also very much looking forward to the reason we've ultimately come - Zoe. We saw a few kids with their new parents around the area; this hotel is known for housing international adoptive parents. In addition to the walking tour, we had lunch at "Lucy's". Think of it as a Chinese attempt at a 50's diner with Elvis in the background. Our waitress' name was 'Apple' and they had a western theme. Grandpa, Beth and Avery got burgers, while Lola got noodles with Chicken and I indulged in the beef (although Grandpa suspected that it may not be) and mushrooms in oyster sauce.

That's all for this post - more to come over the next 2 weeks!
