As many of you know, we started our adoption journey in August 2005 when Mike and I decided to adopt a little girl from China (Zoe). It took us approximately 4 months to complete the paper chase. China received our paperwork and "logged us in" 01/23/06 (= our "LID" which basically marks our place in line with the Chinese government). Ever since that time it seems that our wait for Zoe has always been about 6-9 months away. So we are now approximately 20 months into a 6-9 month wait and we are once again expecting to be matched in ~6 months (Jan/Feb 2008) and travel to China 1-2 months later. The good news is that the number of families ahead of us in line is slowly but surely shrinking. Earlier this month the Chinese government matched families with LIDs through 11/21/05 so there are only two months worth of LIDs in front of us. The not so good news is that it is still very slow going and they are not expected to match our LID until January 2008 at the earliest. More to come as we get closer.
